| Hey, I was wondering if you have a spreadsheet version of all the items in the DB. I know if you did that would be a very very big sheet.
I would actually like to print out a copy of all the items out there, yes its nuts but I like to have a hardcopy of things as its easier to look through when you don't have the time to go online or if your really really board.
In my case I don't like to alt tab that much and would rather have the hardcopy in the binder I have of alot of other things like this fine guides you all created here. If its not possible then thats fine.

| Afraid not (on our end, I don't know if Canyon Trader has his own spreadsheet or not), the Item database is both the knowledge base and the interface with that knowledge. I can't speak for Jazz but I'm sure we could work something out anyone wants to volunteer to make a spreadsheet.
One problem with a spreadsheet is the mutable nature of items, and the lack of interactivity that this db provides. |

| Well, thanks for the input. I may start just going through the DB when I get some time. | |

| Was the content for the DB manually entered or is it a dump provided by the folks at FE? | |

| all manually entered.. line by line.
It's a massive undertaking, but is very easy to update a lot of things.
there is a tutorial on how to contribute here http://www.globaltechatlas.info/2009/10/tutorial-for-fe-item-database.html

| Have you considered making the data available as a dump similar to what EVE Online does? Or perhaps a web service? I find the data incredibly useful, but the UI needs a bit of work (IMO, of course). | |

| hrm... i don't 'run' the database myself... technically the atlas is made up of 3 fully independent sites... the character planner, the atlas (maps/guides) and the database.
A dump is available for contributors though. It is run by JBertoglio from the forums and the best bet is to message him there. I doubt it would be shared randomly but those who ask might receive if they've contributed a bunch to it too?!?
Perhaps helping design a new layout to make it more user friendly if you are talented as such?
I'm okay with basic graphics but I lack too much in the way of comprehension of all the stats. Too much so to make an effective UI design for it...(oh, and lacking the skills too) The site as i understand it is easily modifiable though.

| The reason that I was asking was so that I could make a better UI for it. | |

One problem with a spreadsheet is the mutable nature of items, and the lack of interactivity that this db provides. It is doable. An yes, with 2000+ items it would be a biggie. Note that the tables are blockable into Excel or Word. The system allows custom views that would make a good spreadsheet.
